Deck the halls

Evening, as promised I'm slowly getting around to sharing my recent projects. This is a felt garland I made, I chose traditional colours for these cute decorations but then realized they wouldn't really go with my blue/white/lilac colour Christmas scheme so I made another one in those colours- I'll hopefully share this later in the week.

Anyway, this was really straight forward to make but took a little time to complete all the stitching- it took me a lazy afternoon in front of the TV.

All the shapes are die cut from felt using various dies that I use in my card making.

I sewed the decorations together using embroidery thread and a simple blanket stitch around the edge.

I lightly padded each felt decoration with some stuffing and added a ribbon at the top as a hanger.

I also added some buttons for additional embellishments. I attached each of the decorations to a long length of gingham ribbon and used a single stitch to hold them in place.

I really like the way this turned out and as it doesn't match my Christmas colours I have decided to give it to my parents as an extra gift- hope they liek it too.
